The Third International Film Scoring Sessions and Workshop
Bulgaria: 19th - 27th November, 2005
70 piece Professional Symphony Orchestra
Open to both film scoring professionals and students who want to record symphonic film music cues for their demo reels/showreels. The purpose of the workshop is to give participants the opportunity of recording film music cues with symphony orchestra in a format that allows them to make changes to their orchestrations, subsequent to the rehearsal period and prior to the recording sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to consult with workshop tutor Robert Drasnin (Composer and Director of Music for CBS Television (retired), currently teaching at both U.C.L.A.'s Extension Film Scoring Program and Screen Training Ireland's Film Scoring Program), vis-a-vis any changes or additions to their orchestrations.

Schedule: (subject to adjustments)
Nov: 18th: arrival of participants
Nov: 19th - 21st : rehearsal with symphony orchestra of participants' cues
Nov 21st - 23th: Robert Drasnin will be available to meet with each participant to consult and discuss any changes in the orchestration that the participant may wish to make prior to the recording sessions. During this time, participants will have time to make changes to their orchestration, and prepare and print any new parts that may be required for the recording sessions.
Nov: 24th - 27th: Recording, mixing and editing of music cues, and preparation of multi-channel masters on CD, DVD, or HDD. (The recordings will be a 24-channel recording to Nuendo, with a two channel DAT master, delivered to each participant on CD. For those who wish to remix at a later date, the multi-channel master will be copied for them to CD, DVD or HDD at a small extra charge.) Mixing: two hours of mix time, per hour of recording time included. Additional mix time can be purchased at 30 Euros per hour, however this MUST be booked at least two weeks before workshop commences.
Nov 28th: Departure day
Cost: 1,685 Euros per participant, which includes:
* One hour rehearsal with orchestra per participant of participant's cues.
* Consultation and discussions with Robert Drasnin regarding any changes and additions to the orchestrations.
* One hour recording session with orchestra per participant. Two hours of mix time.
* Orchestra, studio, recording team, and technical staff included in cost.
* Nine nights hotel accommodation. (19th-27th Nov)
* Additional hour of rehearsal and recording time can be purchased for 800 Euros.(per one hour purchased at full price, (i.e Euro 1.685)for one hour of rehearsal plus one hour of recording)
(It is highly recommended that each participant brings with them their own laptop computer and portable printer, with their scoring software installed, so that they can realize, prepare and print any changes to their parts prior to the recording session. For those without laptops, it is possible to make arrangements to have access to computers and printers; they will most likely be PCs, not MACs, and participants will need to bring copies of their software.)
